If you walk along Richmond Road in Hackney and feel engulfed by the heavenly scent of fresh pastries, follow it and you’ll be sure to stumble upon Pophams Bakery. Once inside, you can have your pick from the hand-crafted pastries and other viennoiserie on display. They have a constantly changing menu with a few regular classics such as the pain au chocolat and customer favourite bacon and maple croissant. Other choices you can sometimes find include the rosemary and sea salt twist and the hazelnut praline.

Many regulars of the bakery come in every morning to pick up a pastry and skilfully made artisanal coffee (Ozone), but if you have a few moments to spare it’s worth having a lengthier sit-down breakfast in the cosy establishment.

The homely interior has wooden furnishings and navy walls decorated with colourful artwork and patterned tiles white walls hung with pictures and plenty of greenery. The centrepiece of the room is the bar with a striped pattern made of wood. Alongside this, creative pendant lights, greenery and baking ingredients dotted around the place bring the space to life.
