The Fields Beneath is a cosy all-vegan cafe with a mission to normalise veganism by making it both delicious and convenient. They take their name from the book about Kentish Town’s history (written by Gillian Tindall), and are highly supportive of their community, which is exemplified by the wall covered in local flyers and adverts.

Their breakfast options are limited but done right. Customer favourites include the breakfast muffin with tofu ‘egg’, hash brown and smoky tomato sauce, and the lighter alternative of homemade granola and yoghurt. There is also a mouth-watering range of sweet and savoury vegan pastries on display.

The Fields Beneath can be easily found under Kentish Town West Station’s arches, indicated by a bright yellow sign that’s often placed outside. It’s an ideal pit-stop for a coffee and breakfast to-go, or sitting in the corner with a book – if there’s a seat available.
