Where To Go For Pancake Day 2020

Guide 24th February 2020

It’s probably no surprise that Pancake Day (Shrove Tuesday) is our favourite day of the year. London is a hotspot for pancakes – American, French, Japanese, you name it and we’ve got it.

Whether you’re a DIY pancake-maker at home, planning on pancakes for dinner or have booked in a breakfast meeting out to secure your stack (or, like us, all of the above!), here’s our top picks for where to go.

1. Polo 24 Hour Bar, City

For Pancake day, Polo Bar are pulling out all of the stops. Not only do they have plenty of unreal combinations (including a VEGAN peanut butter stack!), they have a pancake tower challenge with 10 pancakes – beat it in 15 minutes and win a bottle of prosecco! Challenge accepted.

2. Fuwa Fuwa, Bloomsbury

You’ve probably seen them on Instagram, unless you’ve been living under a rock. These guys serve up wibbly-wobbly Japanese Soufflé Pancakes with various topping combinations, and these pancakes are soft and fluffy on the inside – just like how we’ll feel after a day of pancake-eating!

3. Jikoni, Marylebone

Jikoni is a gem of a restaurant for so many reasons – from it’s food to it’s homey interiors. But the most important reason are their Pina Colada Pancakes. Served with caramelised pineapple and coconut ice cream, this is a dish you won’t be forgetting in a long time.

4. Burnt Toast Cafe, Brixton

Come with an appetite, because these American-style bad boys in Brixton Village will fill you up. They’re easy on the eyes (hello, drool-worthy Insta post) and even easier on the taste buds. If it’s your first time having these, it most definitely won’t be your last.

5. The Wolseley, St. James’s

Many Londoners have described these pancakes as some of the best in London, and we can see why. Choose to top it with either berries or bacon, and the buttermilk pancakes are served with a jug of maple syrup that you can keep on pouring until it meets your stomach’s desire.
