Best Bookable Breakfasts in London

Guide 23rd June 2020

With our favourite restaurants, café & coffee shops opening back up, we’re planning reunions. Over recent years, the ‘walk-in only’ trend has been very much on the rise. Whilst it certainly creates hype, it also treads a thin line with me getting ‘hangry’. Not something friends generally want to see!

As we see the best of the weekend rituals starting to resume, the ‘new normal’ will be different.  No doubt tables will be further apart meaning less capacity. However, with this in mind I’ve got my fingers crossed we’ll be able to book more breakfasts! With booking platforms hopefully filling back up again soon, here’s my shortlist and why you should book each (on top of all of their outstanding menus)!

CARAVAN

BEST FOR: BOOTH SEATING

Once you’ve peeled yourself out of bed who doesn’t want to settle into a comfy booth? Looking for a relaxing coffee & pastry or wholesome goodness to cure that hangover, great news- they’ve got it all.

DAISY GREEN COLLECTION

BEST FOR: ATMOSPHERE

This Aussie group currently have a family of 10 incredible venues, each with it’s own unique identity and name to reflect. Darcie & May Green floating on Paddington canal, Scarlett making you feel super chic in the heart of Soho and Beany serving modestly out of a few shipping containers across the city. I think it goes without saying that they all know what they’re doing with their coffee, banana bread and poached eggs…

MORTIMER HOUSE KITCHEN

BEST FOR: BEAUTIFUL INTERIORS

Mortimer Kitchen, part of Mortimer House in the heart of Fitzrovia has been designed to the highest of standards. It’s one of those where I’m even looking forward to visiting the bathroom awaiting the luxury hand washes and lotions. As much as photos you may have seen set the bar high on this one, I promise it’ll exceed expectations, and more.

RAIL HOUSE CAFÉ

BEST FOR: NATURAL LIGHT

Sister restaurant to the Riding House Café, this hot spot opened a few years ago in Victoria. With friends living all over the city, this neighbourhood often feels like a great place to ‘meet in the middle’. Set in the newly developed Sir Simon Milton Square with huge floor to ceiling windows, you get a super spacious feeling whilst safe from the unpredictable British summertime (/all year round) weather.

APRES FOOD CO.

BEST FOR: INCLUSIVE MENU

For those family, friends and colleagues who have specific dietary requirements, eating breakfast out can be difficult. Cue Apres Food Co. who run their entire kitchen gluten and refined sugar free with some dairy free too. For those sceptics this is at no compromise to the incredible taste of their dishes. Want to try it out for yourself? Oh look, there’s a table over there with your name on it!
