London’s Best Birthday Breakfasts

Guide 26th October 2020

It’s that time of year again – the huge calendar event that is your birthday. To ease your way through this chilling reminder of your inevitable ageing, you’re arranging the various social events that will constitute your birthday week (otherwise known as an extravagant distraction from the worryingly swift passage of your twenties).

Any Londoner knows that one of the best ways to mark this occasion is a fancy breakfast – there’s something extremely celebratory about making an indulgent feast of what is typically the most basic meal of the day. It’s also the perfect event for whatever social group is being graced with your birthday presence, whether this be in-laws, friends, or other half.

Our capital isn’t short of impressive spots to enjoy a special breakfast – check out my three favourites below:

Duck and Waffle

One of the most scenic breakfast spots in London, taking a trip to Duck and Waffle is stepping out of the breakfast comfort zone with panoramic views at the pinnacle of London’s skyline. A very reasonably priced menu considering its prime location, Duck and Waffle is accessible to anyone wanting to feel a bit special on their big day. 24 hour opening hours means breakfast can be squeezed in before your nine to five, taking you from drinking mimosas at 574 feet to replying to emails in the space of 30 minutes. The restaurant’s morning offering also switches from ‘healthy selection’ to ‘waffles’ – something for every penchant.

The Wolseley

A London breakfast institution, the Wolseley oozes glamour and prestige, with a decadent black and gold interior and dizzying-ly high ceilings that make a dining setting fit for a King or Queen. From the doorman welcome to the embossed crockery, there’s no doubt you’re eating somewhere special. The Wolseley sticks to tradition with a host of elegantly executed breakfast classics including the Full English, Kedgeree and Eggs Arlington, as well as stacks of perfectly formed pancakes.

Daisy Green

Nothing screams birthday more than Unicorn Waffles, just one of the many ‘extra’ dishes that have featured on Daisy Green’s brunch menu. A cool, sleek interior draped in greenery, this Aussie style brunch hot spot feels cool and sophisticated. A lively weekend atmosphere makes it the perfect place to start a big birthday day out, with the option to go bottomless and get boozy with mimosas or Bloody Gin Mary’s. What’s more, the entrance is adorned with a stunning blossom structure – the perfect spot for a celebratory Instagram snap.
